A good poker player can guess his or her opponents cards fairly well the majority of the time. However, having such a skill level compounded over a long number of games will lead to the occasional missed read or a do not play on the flop. When you combine that kind of skill with the number of hands an average player will see in a NL game, it is easy to see how they will perform statistically.
But, just because you can guess, does not mean that you should. You are playing against a lot of inexperienced players that it is just the luck of the cards to be dealt. The harder they try, the harder they fall. When you combine that kind of skill with the simple fact that the cards just seem to be out of the sky, it makes it pretty simple to play against. But, when you are at the casino, you want to play. And, that usually means throwing some money out there.
You will never win every hand in a casino. You will, however, win more than you will lose. Why not? Because, at the end of the day, the cards are still random. When you play against someone, the cards are in your favor the majority of the time. When you sit at home, or play online, the cards are not in your favor all of the time. That is not to say that you cannot win. It just means you will lose more often than you will win.
Lottery drawings are similar to poker tournaments. The popular phrase is, “It’s all about position.” Which means, when you are in late position, you get to see how the other players play before you make your decision. At the poker table, position is the number of seats you have at the table. At the lottery drawing, position is the number of numbers pulled.
The direction the random numbers are coming from, is normally away from the direction of the wheel. That is, numbers are taken in an arc around the wheel. The ball is usually thrown in an opposite direction. That is, the numbers will be shot out of the ball in random directions.
Yet, you will see numbers that are pulled in patterns. The way to tell is to notice the trend. A good example of that is when some numbers get hit; the immediate thought is that they are “due.” In other words, they usually are. But, if a few numbers get hit in a row, there is a new thought somewhere along the way. At first, they are due. Then, they aren’t. The longer they stay out, the more they become “7meter.” The sequence then becomes a problem.
Initially, throw in a couple numbers. And, watch as the numbers get added up. Eventually, you will see a pattern. Numbers that get hit are much more likely to get hit again. And, numbers that don’t get hit are much more likely not to get hit. The idea is to play consistent with the way you are doing things, which you will notice is working. Then, if you begin to lose, just keep throwing in the money. And, watch as two $5 bills stack up together, just like newspapers. Only, the only difference is that you know what will happen to your money.
The roulette wheel is a bit like that. Don’t pick a number so that it matches the previous number. Instead, pick a number and stick with it. The more spins you allow the more likely you are to win. Don’t change up your playing. And, for that matter, don’t change anything about your playing. The way you treat the money you spend will illustrate the way you treat your winnings.
Sure, you could leave home and begin playing. But, would you walk away if you had just won $200?!
